Do you see life as stressful and uncertain, or filled with opportunity and growth?

Your attitude actually decides which view you take. How would you like to be able to change your attitude so opportunities seem to find you like magic?

Let’s explore how this CAN be done.

In order to change your point of view or attitude. We need to break this topic into several smaller ideas to examine and change your perspective. Feeling certain emotions drive how we view the world around us. Let’s first look at Kindness and it’s foundational role as to how you FEEL.

We seem to live in an angry world, which is evident based on the wars, terrorist threats, and road rage by drivers, and how people speak to each other on a regular basis. At times, anger is all around us. Don’t let your external environment control you? We have full control of our attitude. Let’s look at how to take back and maintain control of our emotions and how we respond to external factors that can influence our FEELINGS?

Tips to Take Back Control of Your Attitude:

1. Kindness

Take a minute and think about a kindness someone showed you during your life. How did it make you FEEL? Really think about this and write down how you felt inside. What did you think when this person was kind to you? What did they do for you and why did they do it? Did you want to do something kind back to the person who originally showed you kindness?

I’ll bet it felt really, really good! It’s easy to be kind but we are so caught up in our dramas that we rarely stop to look at real issues or tragedies that others around us may be dealing with. There is an old saying, “there is always some one worse off than you are.” Do you believe this statement? Why or why not?

I challenge you to go out and perform a kindness to touch a stranger in some way. I’m not suggesting you become a stalker and start touching strangers! A kindness can be as simple as holding a door for the person behind you as you enter your office building, or saying, “thank you, have a great day” as you pay the cashier that you purchase your morning cup of coffee from. See, simple acts of kindness can be as easy as a smile. These types of simple acts of kindness can actually change your frequency or vibration that you are sending out into the world. 2. Mindfulness

This is a big one and I’m not sure many people know how to achieve a state of Mindfulness. How does someone get more Mindful? The easy answer is to just sit and be still, away from noise and chaos. Yes, it’s that easy. If your house is filled with chaos or many people that live under one roof with various schedules, an option is to go for a walk or bike ride. During this walk be fully present by observing the sights, sounds and smells of your environment. Hopefully you have chosen someplace that is filled with beautiful nature. Perhaps a park, nature trail, or my favorite, a walk on the beach.

First, just look around without any expectations or judgments. Look around and see the various colors and how they seem to compliment each other and fit together so perfectly. The green leaves on the tree against the bright blue sky filled with white puffy clouds. Can you see it in your mind right now?

Without putting pressure on yourself, just take a deep breathe and really smell the beauty, yes beauty has a smell. The smell of fresh cutgrass, or the warmth of the earth as you walks on the trail. The smell of the beach, the surf, the sea life, and salt air. Enjoy it and have it fill your lungs with its energy!

Then listen, really listen to how the birds sing to each other, or how the dog is barking to his friend on the next block, or hear the water breaking on the sand and think about how far that wave has traveled to reach you. Pretty cool stuff!

After you do this simple exercise stop and think about how you feel. Do you feel lighter, more energized, more at peace and filled with calm? There is no wrong way to be mindful so just go out and try this example of meditation or one of your own. See if you walk home with a little more bounce in your step.

3. Challenge Yourself

Do you rise to the challenges in your life? Or do you run from them instead? This is an important concept. If you run from challenges for fear of failure, then you have already failed. The lack of an attempt to meet the challenge head on is the failure. If you try to execute the challenge and do not complete it with success, then you go into judgment mode because you failed or because it didn’t go the way you had planned.

It was Thomas Edison who said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Think about this quote. If Edison stopped after his first attempt we would not have electricity. The challenge is to push on. In order to do this you have to use your mind to stop fear in its tracks and push forward. Fear is what holds people back from facing challenges that are in fact GOOD for us.

So how do we do face our fears and face the challenge? Next time something feels challenging, you need to stop, and breath before making any decision, so you have time to analyze it first.

First, you need to write down what the “best-case scenario” may be if you move forward with this challenge or opportunity. Second, then write down what the “worst case scenario.” Last, write down the potential outcome that you think falls in between the “best/worst” case scenarios. That is where reality lies, somewhere in the middle of the best and worst scenarios. You need to do this analysis in order to find the reality of the challenge and take control of your fear. You will soon realize that fear can be used as a catalyst for change and forces you to measure the best/worst case scenarios before moving forward with no thought process in place. It works every time! Try it and see what you think.

4. Energy

Why is the energy we are emitting so important?

I was at an energy-healing event at the local yoga studio and the facilitator was measuring everyone’s energy field. I stood back and observed as she used these metal sticks, that looked like a rod used to find water underground, to measure everyone’s field of energy. I was astonished to see it move to varying widths based on each person’s energy field.

She looked at me and asked if I’d like my energy measured. After a brief hesitation, I agreed to be measured. I was about 6 feet away from her and she began to walk towards me. As soon as she reached the six-foot mark, the wire rods opened up, to its full span. She looked at me and said, “You have a huge energy field!”

I had never thought about the size of my energy field before that moment. It was also interesting to hear how others see you too. I had no idea people actually FELT my energy field. Since that experience and being made aware of how large my energy field is, I now watch how I use my power (smile). I don’t think that I am alone with this type of experience either.

Beware, most people won’t tell you if you have a negative energy or demeanor, people will just seem to avoid you or spend limited time with you. Open your eyes and see what’s really going on. Your energy can actually be pushing people away. Yikes, if this is you, you need to stop it right now!

Here’s what happens. I think sometimes we get so caught up in our own mind or our own momentum of our negative or positive energy that we get stuck. Think of a record player. Remember how if the record got scratched or was played too much, it would create a groove in the album and the music would skip and repeat the same few cords of music over and over again. Our minds do the same thing. We play that old recording of, “I’m not good enough, I’m not smart enough, I’m not pretty or handsome enough, or I’m just not enough!” We say it over and over to our subconscious, without even realizing that our mind is speaking these negative thought thus putting a deep groove in our brains. Our individual energy fields also contribute to the negative mojo that exists in the world around us.

How do we stop the madness and eliminate the groove in our own recording? The answer is you need to change your paradigm of thinking. A simple exercise that you need to repeat over and over throughout the day (the over and over will smooth out the grooves on your mental recording) is to catch yourself having the negative or derogatory thoughts. Do not beat yourself up and think, “There it goes again, I am never going to get unstuck.” We all have negative thoughts. Scientific studies have found that 80-90% of our thoughts are actually negative.

Instead, simply say to yourself, “there is another negative thought. I CHOOSE to not give… (This negative thought) the power to that negative thought rather I CHOOSE to control my energy by changing this negative thought into a positive affirmation instead. Repeat the new positive affirmation and move on with your day. Every time a negative thought pops in your head, do the process again and again. Do you see the pattern of change here…over and over to smooth out your grooves? Try this exercise throughout your day and see how much control we give to our subconscious mind and how we do have the power to reprogram that inner recording.

Remember, what you put out into the Universe will certainly come back to you. In other words, if you put good energy and positive thoughts into the Universe, they will connect and attract the same positive frequency of energy and that is the energy that will come back to you. If you keep putting negative energy into the Universe, you will get in return what you are sending out. Garbage out gets garbage in. Change your energy pattern now!

5. Opportunities Will Find You Like Magic

If you use the information and exercises outlined here, you will be well on your way to seeing the opportunities that were once unseen. Don’t get me wrong; the opportunities have always been there for you, just like they are there for all of us. After reading this article, hopefully your eyes are wide open so you see ALL the abundant opportunities that are right in front of you.
