Stuck in a Rut? 4 Tricks to Kick-Starting a Comeback!
Do you feel like you are running through the motions every day? Doing the same things over and over with no end in sight?
Get up, go to work, eat, sleep, repeat…
So it’s time to stop feeling bad because you are not alone. Most people get comfortable letting their routines run the show. We let our subconscious mind run on auto-pilot.
It’s not that you’re lazy. A habitual routine like our daily lives is a very strong process or ritual that we have created over time. Even the best of us shakers and movers get caught up in the dull drums of our routines.
Fortunately, there’s a quick and easy way to manage this area of our life and create positive change. The simple tips below will help you break free of boring and energy draining habits and kick start an exciting and successful comeback.
1. Don’t Believe This
Despite the old adage, you’re never too old to change.
If you’re alive and have a pulse, you’re more than welcome to go for it and live an exciting life, at least most of the time. There’s no rule book on enjoying life and any age is the perfect age to go for it and enjoy.
I have read too many stories about people who were supposed to be too old to do certain things – and yet they did it in spite of the criticism of the nay Sayers. Living life to the fullest has been, and always will be, a state of mind.
So make sure your state of mind is clear about one thing – the right time is now. Remember you are the perfect age to do everything you want to do without the limits society, family, friends, etc. put on us.
After you’ve got the age misnomer in check, it’s time to crank up on your daydreaming skills…
2. Can You See the Picture?
Life is a blank slate waiting for you to fill it up with your own thoughts, hopes, and
ambitions. That’s why it’s important to master the art of imagination.
The better you are at creating exciting and motivating pictures of your future, the more
excited and motivated you will be to make them happen.
I’m reading a book called Wishes Fulfilled by Dr. Wayne Dyer and the premise of the book is mastering the art of manifesting your wishes and dreams.
He writes, “Be willing to dream, and imagine yourself becoming all that you wish to be. If you live from those imaginings, the universe will align with you in bringing all that you wish for…Keep in mind this basic axiom – if all that now exists was once imaged, then what you want to exist for you in the future must now be imagined.”
Let’s say you want to get a new job but can’t seem to find the right place to start to look for that change.
Here’s what you do. Imagine that you currently have the job you have imagined and everything going exactly the way you want it from the very first day on the job. Picture (imagine) yourself coming to work with a smile, making new friends, and bringing in major successes for the company.
In order to manifest this reality, you need to create and own a clear picture of what that job looks like. In addition, you must feel what that job feels like and feels like to be successful in it. Everything you want should have an exciting mental picture and feeling to go with it. Have you been using your imagination as often as you should be? You have the power within, just use it!
3. I Can Do That Too
One of the best ways to get excited about changing your own life is to learn about the
life of someone else. Seek out a mentor. The mentor can be someone you know or someone that you look up to in society. Usually, it is a good idea to choose a mentor who is 10 years ahead of you with their career and life stage. They have been down the road you are entering and can provide some great insight to help you move forward in the most efficient and successful way.
Many of the great men and women we learn about in history class found their
inspiration through the stories of those who came before them. Just as they scratched their heads thinking, ‘If one person could do all that, couldn’t I do the things I want to do?’ You too need to think and imagine the great things you are supposed to do.
Another idea is to consider the things you want to do with your life and then get out there and learn about people who followed a similar path. Learn from them and then see how you can even complete your dream and be even more successful.
4. I’m Not Afraid Anymore
You may not want to admit it, but you’re not doing the things you really want to do
because a part of you is afraid. Fear is one of the strongest emotions we feel. We are all afraid to leave our comfort zone and forge into the unknown.
So how do you move forward and not let fear beat you? You can work through it and get
what you want.
The first key is to focus and clearly identify what you’re afraid of instead of avoiding it or ignoring it like most people do.
The reality is you cannot fix a problem you can’t even see. Fears that linger beneath the surface will take on a size that is much larger than reality. So if you do not know what you’re afraid of, it can feel like the fear is an enormous or overwhelming thing.
But when you shine light on it, you see it for what it really is – a much smaller
matter than you thought it was. That’s why you need to understand what’s going on in your head so you can create a clear vision of your dream in order to have to power and tools to be able to manifest what you see in your imagination in your new reality.
